DIRTY DOGS AND A GENTLEMAN
You or I can talk our heads off until the cows come home, it won’t do any good
There is no place for heroes and no place for thieves to move from the city hood
Stayin’ within and putting up with the ‘tough’ guys who want to get a piece of you
You know they can’t unless it’s an ambush, so you just never know for real, I do.
Hair on the back of my neck stands up and pricks the cotton of my collar, I’m alert
For the millionth time, thugs don’t want to admit their proclivity to a weeping tyke
So, they give you the business as if you care about anything except cease and desist
Knuckles, fisticuffs or martial art magic, you do what needs to be done in the psyche.
Dreams and reality crush into the colonies and cause the states of the union & #Starwars
Prehistoric before the #Word and post-historic language diversification, gave us the cars
We drive to and fro in a panic or at leisure, colliding with other things not stoppin’ on dimes
Even dirty dogs get hit running across the road toward your head’s lights and chrome rims.
Slick hair parted down the middle of the road, widow’s peak split in two, Vaseline double-do
No wind and no quick hand could move the set coiffure, set until drenched with lye and soap
If the well has gone dry, you need to use the toilet’s water to rinse your scalp’s irritation rap
Sky ain’t cryin’ no more but you will be when canines lick-up the funk that follows, oh crap.
