Hearing the lowdown on the life you and I lived is important but not sacrosanct today.
Pushin’ up daisies in the field of dreams you call the cemetery or the ash that human dump
Dippin’ our toes in the water just because we knew how to have fun, being together in love
Gettin’ ready for the sun and some rum with the best girl in the world, itsy bitsy Dixiecrat
Pretending that it will last forever, trying to not think about death tearing our happiness up.
We all get along in the real America that sat before our founding fathers, old European men
Hardly a women in the foundation of members who overthrew British ruling American sin
Disobedience to the crown of England apparently frowned upon in the seventeen hundreds
Revolution was the only way to gain freedom from the Queen, the King and Dukes’ guards.
With or without you and I, this dream continues as it has for hundreds of years without us
I wished and hoped as a young man, that the world had a meaning beyond nothingness bliss
Dashed hopes and dreams on an ocean rocks of North Pacific, fell off a cliff, blew my mind
Bottle of tequila loved me again, helped me feel the warmth of an empty gun, nuts in a bind.
I am a leader but you don’t need to follow me to where I lay down to die, stay to be shunned
I really don’t give a flying, freakin’ un-bee-leave-uh-bull, it’s all outer Space my wings do call
Nothing else to formulate in the premises, the conclusion is not only rational, logic’s gunned
Luxury and poverty mean nothing like lead or gold, when Earth evolves into Nova’s hell-hole.
